Long before DuneTour existed, we lived by the rhythm of the Sahara, moving with the seasons, reading the sky before a sandstorm, learning which nomadic family kept the best tea from years spent sitting in their tents. The desert wasn’t somewhere we visited. It was the only home we knew.
For over 10 years now, we’ve guided travelers into that same Sahara, not the postcard version rushed through in a single overnight stop, but the real one: silence so complete you can hear your own heartbeat, a sky so full of stars it looks unfinished, mornings that start with the sound of nothing at all.
We started DuneTour because we watched too many travelers get the wrong desert, herded through Merzouga in a convoy of identical jeeps, photographed in the same three spots, gone before the sand even had a chance to get in their shoes. That’s not the Sahara we grew up in. So we built something else: smaller groups, real nomadic camps instead of tourist ones, routes into Erg Chegaga where the crowds don’t go.
Every guide who leads a DuneTour trip grew up exactly where you’re about to sleep. That’s not a marketing line, it’s the entire reason we started this.
